Why would anyone want to imitate the BoDeans, who never sold more than a handful of records in their whole career? For Bob and Mike Delevante, the inspiration was not the prospect of fame and fortune but that BoDeans sound--a mesmerizing blend of twangy Everly Brothers-like harmonies, driving Creedence-esque country-rock and Springsteenish working-class narratives. Recording in Nashville as the Delevantes, the two New Jersey brothers have not only captured that sound on their new album, Long About That Time, but have also carved out their own identity within that niche.
